Apply your extensive knowledge of network technologies, software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise. You will participate in an effort to modernize the firm’s Wide Area Network infrastructure involving Cisco technologies. Maintaining the Wide Area network focusing on ensuring network performance, security, and reliability.Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to the project to modernize the Enterprise WAN
Plan, design, deploy, and configure network solutions for the Wide Area Network environment consisting of Cisco routers, switches, and other network devicesImplement changes on a complex enterprise wide are networkDecommissioning of network infrastructureWorks with other platforms owners to implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes. Ensure network designs adhere to industry best practices and security standards.Design and implement Transport (circuit) capacity upgrades and performance enhancements, involving hands-on configuration changes and testing.Perform circuit consolidation and cleanup, decommissioning legacy circuits.Perform software upgrades on Core WAN devices (routers, switches), including IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS, and other Cisco network operating systems.Hands-on creation and optimization of documentation for software upgrade processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guidelines to support ongoing operations.Executes creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting for problems of moderate complexityStrongly considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions. Ensure network security measures are in place and up to datePerforms troubleshooting in real-time to resolve any issues resulting from changes performed on the wide area networkUtilize diagnostic tools and network monitoring software to troubleshoot and fine-tune the wide area network.Create and maintain network architecture and design documentationUpdates inventory systemsAdds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respectEnsure adherence with compliance standard relevant regulationsQualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
- Experience in Cisco technologies in performing configuration of protocols IE: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, GRE tunnels, IPSec, SSL, VPN, PBR, HSRP, DHCP, QoS, Spanning-tree, Vlan, STP, Trunking, MPLS, etc.
- Proficiency in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting the above network infrastructures
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, network engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, troubleshooting and or performance assessments.
- Extensive experience with LAN, WAN, SDN technologies.
- Knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.).
- Knowledge of network services and tools such as Radius, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG, SSH, etc.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Automation and programming languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
- Experience in large enterprise environment(s)
- Experience in Banking/Finance environments
